1st Grade 127 lost to Epping 148

Arriving at the ground at 8.15 in the morning there looked like no chance play would get underway at all on Mona 1. Credit must go to Tim Affleck, Shawn Freeburn, Matt Szady, Daniel Burton, Mick Wood, John Affleck, Pete Abboud and Suresh Liyanage that got the ball rolling early on and bailed out a massive puddle on the western side of the ground. As more of the 1st grade guys arrived their chances were getting better and better and the hard work paid off as play got under way with a little bit of delay.

When play finally got under way it was Stevens, 4-24 off 13.1 and Matt Burton, 4-54 off 25 who did all the damage.

With the bat things didn’t start flash, losing Kirwan and Stevens for 3 a piece. A nice partnership saw the score reach 40 before Donno was bowled. Cam made 65*, his best for the season in a grinding knock that gave us every chance but with only Donno and Matt Burton making double figures it was always going to be hard to get a result.

3rd Grade VS Epping washed out

4th Grade VS Epping washed out

5th Grade VS Georges River washed out

U/24s 7-160 defeated Pennant Hills 197 on run rate

A thriller this week in 24s saw the good guys get up and remain undefeated with only a bonus points separating Warringah and us on the top of the table.

The Ginger Ninja, Leonard picked up an early but it was Michael Stevens who did most of the early damage having 2-0 at one stage. Ash Vella bowled his 10 straight taking 0-30 but built the pressure enough for Will to pick up 2 wickets to leave Penno in a bit of trouble at about 5-100. A good partnership saw Penno looking like they would reach 230-240 but Szady, 1, and Stevo, 4-26, Charlie 2-33 and Flash, 1-20, picked up late wickets and had Penno bundled out for 197.

We lost Nath Ross early, and I it was Will and Stevens who got the innings going before the downpour occurred. We lost 9 overs of play making it a 41 over game. Will made 47 and Stevo, 20, but it was Ash Vella, 19*, and Gordon Starkey, 20*, that put on 40 for the last wicket and saw us get home in the 40th over.

 Fantasy League Update

Currently, yours truly holds the lead from MT’s Yass Seals, with Don & Matt Burton not far behind. With numerous injuries, washouts & absentees in the top teams the comp is still wide open coming into Xmas. Please cough up your $20 ASAP, everyone is still right in this. I’m personally working on Cooky’s hammy every night, have told Colonel Sanders that a broken thumb is no reason to miss games & am heading to Bangladesh next week to drag Emran back by the ears to get my team back in shape. I’ve even been bowling in an attempt to keep the lead.
